Baseball Recap: Mount Vernon Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Mount Vernon hadn't done well against Wesleyan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves, sneaking past 7-6. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 victory the Wolves walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

The win (which was Mount Vernon's third in a row) raised their record to 11-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Wesleyan, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Mount Vernon will challenge Mount Pisgah Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Wesleyan, they will face off against Whitefield Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
