Preview: Harbor Pirates vs. Scotts Valley Falcons
Harbor has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Scotts Valley Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Harbor suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Aptos at home and fell 51-24. While losing is never fun, Harbor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1092nd, while Aptos is ranked 487th).
Despite the defeat, Harbor saw an underclassman step up: Lily Defelice scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Defelice has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Scotts Valley ended up a good deal behind Aptos on Thursday and lost 50-35. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Scotts Valley in their matchups with Aptos: they've now lost three in a row.
Harbor's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Scotts Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Harbor was dealt a bruising 54-15 defeat at the hands of Scotts Valley in their previous matchup on January 5th. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Harbor was down 40-5.
