Recap: Serra Cavaliers vs. St. Monica Mariners

The Serra Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. Their rough 46-24 defeat to St. Monica might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Serra has scored all season.

Despite the loss, Serra still got an impressive performance from Kaylah Holmes, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Holmes hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Kaicia Snelson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Serra's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 10-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for St. Monica, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Serra will square off against Mary Star of the Sea at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mary Star of the Sea comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for St. Monica, they will head out on the road to take on Saint Joseph at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Saint Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday.
