Basketball Preview: Pioneer Panthers vs. Knox Redskins

After three games on the road, Pioneer is heading back home. They will take on the Knox Redskins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer will be strutting in after a victory while the Redskins will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, Pioneer escaped with a win against the Bluejays by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49.

Meanwhile, Knox pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Twin Lakes. While losing is never fun, Knox can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Indians are ranked 159th).

Despite the loss, Knox had strong showings from Rowen Jordan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds, and Myles Mclaughlin, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Mclaughlin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Nolan Short was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals.

Pioneer's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11. As for Knox, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Things could have been worse for Pioneer, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-38 loss to the Redskins in their previous meeting back in February of 2023.
