Football Recap: Roger Browning's Menacing Defense Leads St. Marys over Riley County

St. Marys hadn't done well against Riley County recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bears came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 22-13. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 27-26 loss the last time these two teams met.

St. Marys' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Roger Browning was especially locked on to Riley County's QB and sacked him twice. Browning also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13.

St. Marys now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Riley County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, St. Marys will venture away from home to square off against Osage City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Riley County, they will host Silver Lake on Friday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
