Northern Cambria suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Penns Manor, falling 72-23. While losing is never fun, Northern Cambria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while Penns Manor is ranked 95th).
Meanwhile, Conemaugh Township scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Ferndale 50-23 on the road. The win was just what Conemaugh Township needed coming off of a 55-24 defeat in their prior game.
Conemaugh Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashlyn Fetterman, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Fetterman hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Kaitlyn Wiley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Northern Cambria has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Conemaugh Township, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Northern Cambria was dealt a bruising 44-12 loss at the hands of Conemaugh Township when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Conemaugh Township's Jenna Brenneman, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds.
