Volleyball Recap: Valley Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Belen, Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Manzano Monarchs by a score of 3-1. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Monarchs, too.

The victory didn't come easy: Manzano scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20.

Penelope Jimenez was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 19 digs and two assists. Those 19 digs gave her a new career-high. Brianda Ruiz also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

The win got Valley back to even at 5-5. As for Manzano, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Valley has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Atrisco Heritage Academy on the 23rd. As for Manzano, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Hope Christian on the 20th.
