Football Recap: Crete Cardinals vs. York Dukes
Crete was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the York Dukes. The Cardinals lost against the Dukes in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 31-0 score last time.
Although Crete took the loss, they still got scores from Triston Lenhoff and Josue Perez-Vicente. Perez-Vicente also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.
Leading York to victory were Emmitt Dirks and Dax Peterson. Dirks rushed for 78 yards, while Peterson picked up 40 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 40 receiving yards gave Peterson a new career-high.
Crete's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for York, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Coming up, Crete will venture away from home to take on Ralston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for York, they will host Lincoln Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
