Baseball Game Preview: Camden Blue Devils vs. Indian River Wolves

The Camden Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Indian River Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Camden 3.8, Indian River 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, Camden beat Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 7-4. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Adam Gonzalez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Camden got a great performance from Evan Pitcher as he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits.

Back at the plate, Evan Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cody Terrier, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Indian River had no trouble coming through when it counted. They beat Oneida on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-2.

Camden's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Indian River, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 12-5.

Everything went Camden's way against Indian River in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Camden made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
