Basketball Recap: Westlake Charter Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Madysen Gibbs and Amiliana Moore

It was a good run, but Westlake Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 43-32 to the Fortune Early College Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Explorers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-43 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Westlake Charter had strong showings from Amiliana Moore, who posted seven points and 12 boards, and Madysen Gibbs, who put up ten points. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in rebounds.

Fortune Early College was led to victory by Heaven Graves and Tenya Bailey. Graves scored 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Bailey earned 17 points. Zaniyah Jenkins was another key player, putting up four points and seven boards.

Westlake Charter's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Fortune Early College, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Westlake Charter will square off against Leroy Greene Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fortune Early College, they will take on Elite at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
