Basketball Game Preview: Pinewood Panthers vs. Saint Francis Lancers

Pinewood is a perfect 9-0 against Saint Francis since December of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Pinewood Panthers will host the Saint Francis Lancers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pinewood has nine straight wins, Saint Francis has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Pinewood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 71-39 victory over Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 22 points or more this season.

Jolyn Ding continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10-for-17 en route to 29 points. The match was her fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Katherine Garr, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 17 points and eight boards.

Pinewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Saint Francis suffered their closest loss since December 16, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Priory by a score of 45-42.

Pinewood's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.8 points. As for Saint Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-8.

Everything came up roses for Pinewood against Saint Francis in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-35 victory. In that contest, Pinewood amassed a halftime lead of 48-23, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
