Baseball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Dominion Christian's Winning Streak

If Dominion Christian was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Loganville Christian Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dominion Christian Knights took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Campbell Spartans on Friday. The match marked the Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Skye Jackson put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles.

Jackson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nick Gilbrook, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Carter Cox also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The loss snapped Dominion Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-2 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Campbell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dominion Christian will venture away from home to take on Drew Charter at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. As for Campbell, they will head out on the road to face off against Harrison at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Campbell is facing Harrison at the right time seeing as Harrison is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
