Baseball Recap: Lynbrook Comes Up Short

Lynbrook had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 11-16 to make it six. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the More Knights. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Cameron Chao was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Lynbrook is 3-1 when Chao posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-15 otherwise.

As for More, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.

On More's side, Sean Selway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Selway has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Corr, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Selway, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Lynbrook nor More have any future games scheduled.
