Basketball Recap: Gustine Takes a Loss

Gustine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 48-34 fall against the Stone Ridge Christian Knights. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Reds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-30 on January 7th.

Stone Ridge Christian found their leader in sophomore Bella Ewing, who posted 22 points. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Ewing has scored at least a third of Stone Ridge Christian's points. Mikyla Beene was another key player, putting up ten points.

Gustine's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Stone Ridge Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Mariposa County the next time they take the court. Stone Ridge Christian will host Mariposa County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Gustine will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
