Softball Recap: Centura Starts Season with Victory Against Fillmore Central

Centura had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Fillmore Central Panthers by a score of 7-4 on Thursday.

Calleigh Sundberg made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Sundberg was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Sundberg wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josie Schroeder, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Naudia Hruby, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Centura always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fillmore Central only posted an OBP of .348.

Coincidentally, Centura and Fillmore Central will both be playing York the next time they take the field. The Centurions will head out to face the Dukes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Panthers will play them later in the day, at 7:15 p.m.
