Basketball Recap: Pierce City Takes a Loss

If Pierce City was feeling good fresh off their 53-33 takedown of Hurley last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pierce City Eagles fell to the Wheatland Mules 40-36. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Mules are ranked 72nd).

Pierce City's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Wheatland, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pierce City will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lockwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. Lockwood will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Pierce City surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wheatland, they are taking a road trip to challenge Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th.
