Baseball Recap: Brimley Gets the Win

While Brimley's win against Cedarville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bays narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Trojans 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bays have posted since May 2nd.

Darren Johnson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on zero hits. Brimley is 2-1 when Johnson allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Brimley's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Micah Morrison, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Brimley and bumps their season record up to 8-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Cedarville, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Brimley will host Pellston at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cedarville, they will head out on the road to square off against Mackinaw City at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
