Basketball Preview: Brawley Wildcats vs. Southwest EC Eagles
Brawley is 9-1 against the Eagles since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Brawley Wildcats will be playing at home against the Southwest EC Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
Last Thursday, Brawley came up short against the Scots and fell 66-54. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brawley in their matchups with the Scots: they've now lost four in a row.
Brawley's loss came about despite a quality game from Breanna Montano, who scored 26 points. That was a full 48.1% of Brawley's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaelyn Salceda was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Southwest EC had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Calipatria with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 43-25. The victory was just what Southwest EC needed coming off of a 80-39 loss in their prior contest.
Brawley's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Southwest EC, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-17.
Everything went Brawley's way against the Eagles when the teams last played two weeks ago as the Wildcats made off with a 54-30 victory. Will Brawley repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
