Recap: Clearfield Bison vs. Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers
On Friday, 2024 welcomed Clearfield with a 54-34 loss courtesy of Westmont Hilltop. While losing is never fun, Clearfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Westmont Hilltop is ranked 49th).
Despite the defeat, Clearfield had strong showings from Carsyn Walker, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds, and Sonny Diehl, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Diehl's eighth in a row with at least ten points.
Clearfield bumped their record down to 5-5 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Westmont Hilltop, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clearfield will face off against Philipsburg-Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westmont Hilltop, they will head out on the road to face off against Bedford at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
