Basketball Recap: Alexander Central Wins Going Away Against East Burke

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Alexander Central on Tuesday. They blew past the East Burke Cavaliers 77-53. The Cougars pushed the score to 61-41 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cavaliers had little chance of recovering from.

Noah VanBeurden had an outrageously good game as he posted 30 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Kade Flowers, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Alexander Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They racked up nine more assists than East Burke's also-impressive total of 13.

Despite the defeat, East Burke had strong showings from Owen Hartmann, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Tyler Brown, who earned 12 points. RJ Williams was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Alexander Central has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexander Central will head out to take on Davie County at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Burke, they will face off against St. Stephens at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
