Softball Recap: Redan Takes a Loss

Redan had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-8 to make it five. They came up short against the South Atlanta Hornets, falling 26-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for South Atlanta, their win bumped their record up to 10-1. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For South Atlanta's part, Laniya Collins was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Collins is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Jackson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Redan will square off against Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Atlanta, they will head out to take on Columbia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.11 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
