Baseball Recap: Kaneland Comes Up Short

Kaneland had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 2-6-1 to make it six. They fell just short of the DeKalb Barbs by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by just one run.

As for DeKalb, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 17, 2025.

For DeKalb's part, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Kaneland and DeKalb will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Knights are set to face off against their familiar foe Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, DeKalb will take on rival Naperville North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
