Basketball Recap: Vacaville Christian Skates Past Golden Sierra with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Woodland Christian, Vacaville Christian was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They breezed by the Golden Sierra Grizzlies to the tune of 54-18. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 25 points or more this season.

Vacaville Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elena Vizcay led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 14 points, ten boards, and 11 steals. Vizcay is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Danielle Ruff, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Vacaville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive games.

Peyton Lesher and Mary Nicole Turner certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Lesher posted six points along with five boards and three steals, while Turner put up seven points and five steals. That was a full 38.9% of Golden Sierra's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Vacaville Christian's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Golden Sierra, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Vacaville Christian has already played their next contest, a 27-25 win against Mesa Verde on the 31st. As for Golden Sierra, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 43-29 defeat against Rio Vista on the 31st.
