Softball Recap: Mead Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mead ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Niwot Cougars 13-12. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Mead got a massive performance out of Gianna Pacotti, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Pacotti a new career-high. Zoey Hawkinson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Mead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mead's record is now 12-10. As for Niwot, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Mead will challenge Legacy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mavericks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lightning have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. Niwot does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
