Football Game Preview: Belle Plaine Dragons vs. Trinity Academy Knights + How To Watch

Belle Plaine hasn't had much luck against Trinity Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dragons will head out to challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Belle Plaine has given up an average of 43 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Belle Plaine is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Garden Plain on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Dragons had to suffer through a 46-7 loss at the hands of the Owls. The Dragons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-7.

Trinity Academy not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 4, 2024 (when they won 50-6). Everything went their way against Smoky Valley as they made off with a 36-16 victory. The Knights' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Belle Plaine better keep an eye on Zac Zimmerman. He was instrumental in Trinity Academy's win, throwing for 201 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 89 yards and one score. Their leading receiver Bryton Baty was Zimmerman's top target yet again, picking up 107 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

The win made it two in a row for Trinity Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points over those games. As for Belle Plaine, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Belle Plaine was taken down by Trinity Academy 50-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
