Basketball Game Preview: La Salle Lancers vs. St. Anthony Saints

The La Salle Lancers will face off against the St. Anthony Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Anthony took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on La Salle, who comes in off a win.

La Salle got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against St. Mary's Academy by a score of 49-36 on Tuesday. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Belles are ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, St. Anthony lost to Esperanza on the road by a 66-51 margin on Monday. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

La Salle will need focus on slowing down Laila Hughes, one of several St. Anthony players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 11 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Hughes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadence Lloyd, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for St. Anthony, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

La Salle was taken down by St. Anthony 58-20 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for La Salle, Ryann Bennett (who earned 14 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
