Baseball Recap: Winslow Bulldogs vs. Snowflake Lobos

Winslow extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-19. They came up short against the Snowflake Lobos, falling 18-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lobos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 last Tuesday.

Winslow saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ehren Leonard, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Snowflake, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7-1. Considering they have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Snowflake's side, Jaxon Merrill made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Merrill has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other pitching news, Dylan Kirkendall looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Kyler Matthews and Maverick Greer did most of the damage at the plate: Matthews went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Greer went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Matthews has posted since back in April of 2025. Daxon Wahl was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Winslow and Snowflake will both be playing Holbrook the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Roadrunners at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Lobos will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
