Basketball Game Preview: Acalanes Dons vs. Miramonte Matadors

The Acalanes Dons will challenge the Miramonte Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Acalanes' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Acalanes is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: McClatchy, who was ranked 11th at the time (Acalanes was ranked eighth). Acalanes walked away with a 74-67 win over McClatchy on Saturday.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Miramonte beat Mt. Diablo 34-28 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Matadors.

Miramonte found their leader in freshman Lorelei Keenan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keenan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Robin Parmelee, who posted 11 points.

Miramonte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Acalanes pushed their record up to 22-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.2 points. As for Miramonte, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Acalanes against Miramonte in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 77-41 win. Does Acalanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will Miramonte turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
