Basketball Recap: Samueli Academy's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Samueli Academy hadn't done well against Newport Christian recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Samueli Academy Firewolves enjoyed a cozy 49-35 victory over the Newport Christian Seahawks. The win was some much needed relief for the Firewolves as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Samueli Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Genavivie Medrano out in front who posted 18 points. That's the most points Medrano has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Cortez, who earned 13 points.

Samueli Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Newport Christian, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Samueli Academy will square off against San Gabriel Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Samueli Academy is facing San Gabriel Academy at the right time seeing as San Gabriel Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Newport Christian, they will face off against Avalon on Monday.
