Preview: Desert Christian Knights vs. St. Monica Academy Crusaders
Desert Christian has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the St. Monica Academy Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Desert Christian only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point they dealt Littlerock on Thursday. Desert Christian simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Littlerock 41-8 at home. With Desert Christian ahead 27-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Desert Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Armstrong, who scored 13 points along with eight steals. Armstrong hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Duffee, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
St. Monica Academy suffered their biggest loss since November 18, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 46-18 defeat at the hands of Vasquez.
Desert Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. As for St. Monica Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.
Desert Christian beat St. Monica Academy 43-31 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Desert Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
