Soccer Recap: Bakersfield Comes Up Short

Bakersfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Highland Scots. While losing is never fun, the Drillers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 809th, while the Scots are ranked 192nd).

Bakersfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10-1. As for Highland, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bakersfield has already played their next match (against Centennial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Highland has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Bakersfield Christian.
