Soccer Game Preview: Sumter County vs. Shaw

Sumter County is 0-3 against Shaw since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Sumter County Panthers will face off against the Shaw Raiders at 8:00 p.m. The matchup will give Sumter County their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Sumter County took on Crisp County on Tuesday. Sumter County fell just short of Crisp County by a score of 3-2. The contest was a 2-2 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shaw). Their defense stepped up to hand Chattahoochee County an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Shaw hit Chattahoochee County with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Andres Bonilla (3), Kelvin Reyez (2), Darwin Tovar (2), and Camryn Tharp.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Sumter County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Sumter County might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from Shaw when the teams last played back in February of 2019. Can Sumter County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
