Football Recap: Simi Valley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Thousand Oaks two weeks ago, Simi Valley came back down to earth. The Pioneers received a blow on Friday as they fell 41-26 to the St. Bonaventure Seraphs. While the Pioneers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Seraphs 13-7 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Simi Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Connor Petrov threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Quentin McGahan, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Simi Valley dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for St. Bonaventure, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Looking ahead, Simi Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Camarillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Bonaventure, they are taking a road trip to square off against Pacifica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tritons' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Seraphs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
