Softball Game Preview: Harris County Tigers vs. Northgate Vikings

The Harris County Tigers will face off against the Northgate Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harris County will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak dating back to last season.

On Tuesday, Harris County needed a bit of extra time to put away Houston County. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bears 3-2.

Caroline Gatewood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Gatewood wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Guthrey, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Ivy McCormick, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Northgate never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Morrow as they made off with a 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.

Northgate now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Harris County, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Harris County took their victory against Northgate when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
