Two dominant signal callers in Damian Briano and Kingston Jeffries are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Montwood Rams will take on the Eastwood Troopers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Montwood has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while Eastwood will arrive with eight straight victories.
Last Friday, Montwood came up short against Coronado and fell 48-35.

Despite their loss, Montwood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Adrian Cortinas, who picked up 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Cortinas is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Miguel Esqueda also helped out as he racked up 106 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Eastwood was able to grind out a solid win over Coronado on Friday, taking the game 36-26. Given the Troopers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 609th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Montwood better keep an eye on Nathanael Chavira. He was instrumental in Eastwood's win, rushing for 59 yards and three TDs. Jude Walker made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Eastwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jordan Nava, Walker, and Matthew Yarbrough picked up one apiece. Walker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Montwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Eastwood, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Montwood was able to grind out a solid win over Eastwood when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 47-34. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jeffries, who threw for 345 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 36 yards.
