Football Recap: Midlothian Heritage Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Midlothian Heritage had won seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 4-3 to make it eight. They enjoyed a cozy 52-35 win over the Crandall Pirates. That's more bragging rights for the Jaguars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Dax Montelongo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 169 yards and two scores on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 178 yards and three TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes. His longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Za'Ko Davis also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Midlothian Heritage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 313 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Midlothian Heritage didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jackson Ware and Brayden Abila.

Having lost for the first time this season, Crandall fell to 6-1. The loss was their first of the season.

Crandall's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Douglas, who picked up 152 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Darrik Ward Jr. was in the mix as well, providing the Pirates with two TDs.

Looking ahead, Midlothian Heritage will look to defend their home field on Friday against Poteet at 7:00 p.m. As for Crandall, they will venture away from home to face off against Ennis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.43 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
