Basketball Recap: Camelback Comes Up Short

Camelback played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 70-18 loss at the hands of the Cibola Raiders. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-5.

Camelback's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Deja Francisco, who posted ten points and eight boards, and Alyssa Torres, who had no points and five rebounds. Francisco is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played.

Mariana Vega continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cibola, going 9 of 18 on her way to 20 points along with 11 steals and ten assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaida Bosch, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, ten assists, and ten steals.

Camelback's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Cibola, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.

Camelback will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Browne at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Cibola, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-25 victory against Maricopa on the 10th.
