Neumann-Goretti comes up short despite Carryn Easley's dominant performance

It was a good run, but the Neumann-Goretti Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 66-49 fall against Archbishop Wood. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Neumann-Goretti in their matchups with Archbishop Wood: they've now lost eight in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Neumann-Goretti lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carryn Easley. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with four steals. Easley is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for five games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Scott, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Neumann-Goretti's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Archbishop Wood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neumann-Goretti won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Archbishop Ryan at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Archbishop Ryan is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Archbishop Wood, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Catholic at 7:00 p.m. West Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Archbishop Wood is ranked fourth).
