Football Recap: Vista Ridge Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Vista Ridge was riding high fresh off their 44-10 takedown of Manor last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rangers were just a hair shy of victory on Thursday and fell 35-34 to the Hutto Hippos. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hippos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Vista Ridge had strong showings from Quinn Szczytowski, who rushed for 65 yards and two scores, and DeShaun Castillo, who picked up 77 receiving yards and one TD. SzczytowSki has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Hutto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaiden Fields, who picked up 221 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kaden Stefek, who threw for 263 yards and three TDs.

Vista Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hutto, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Vista Ridge will challenge Round Rock Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Rangers will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.13 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hutto, they will square off against McNeil at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The last three games the Mavericks have played have been within three points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
