Softball Recap: Dougherty Takes a Loss

Dougherty extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 17-1 to the Bainbridge Bearcats. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 21-3 to the Bearcats when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Dougherty saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jalexi Thomas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Bainbridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Bainbridge's side, Emsleigh Glass was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Glass has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bainbridge got a massive performance out of Kylaha Hughes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Hughes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Auburn Culpepper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Looking ahead, Dougherty is taking a road trip to take on Cairo at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bainbridge, they will challenge Miller County at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
