Basketball Game Preview: University City Centurions vs. Morse Tigers

The University City Centurions will square off against the Morse Tigers at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

University City is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Cathedral Catholic on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. University City was outmatched by Cathedral Catholic and fell 54-27. The game marked the Centurions' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Morse won against Mount Miguel two weeks ago with 66 points and they decided to stick to that point total again two weeks ago. Everything went Morse's way against Olympian as Morse made off with a 66-42 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Morse's win came from a few key players University City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Yasmin Zufri, who posted 26 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Victoria Garingo was another key player, putting up 15 points.

University City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Morse, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

University City suffered a grim 54-28 defeat to Morse in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. Thankfully for University City, Jayla White (who had 27 points along with seven steals and six boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
