Basketball Recap: Upper Merion Area Falls to Sacred Heart Academy in First Game of Season

Upper Merion Area had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to the Sacred Heart Academy Lions. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lauren Hirshorn, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 12 points and seven boards. Piper Edge was another key player, putting up seven points and eight rebounds.

Upper Merion Area didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-36 win against Henderson on the 4th. As for Sacred Heart Academy, they will head out to challenge Gwynedd Mercy Academy at 5:15 p.m. on the 10th.
