After having lost a blowout in their previous game against LaGrange, Shaw was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chattahoochee County Panthers a 15-0 shutout. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Dylan Lockhart was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Lockhart was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Shaw got a big performance out of Sincere Ford, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Ford has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Deshaun Mays was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Shaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chattahoochee County only posted an OBP of .250.
Shaw now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Chattahoochee County, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Coming up, Shaw will welcome Mount Vernon at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Chattahoochee County, they will challenge Jordan at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
