Basketball Recap: Santiago Comes Up Short

After flying high against Firebaugh on Wednesday, Santiago came back down to earth. The Cavaliers fell 38-26 to the Mountain View Vikings on Thursday.

Despite the defeat, Santiago saw an underclassman step up: sophomore LANI GARCIA posted six points along with 16 boards and six blocks. Those 16 rebounds set a new season-high mark for GARCIA. ALEXIA PACHECO also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Santiago's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Mountain View, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santiago won't have much time to rest: their next game is against NOVA Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mountain View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Azusa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
