Basketball Preview: Brashear Bulls vs. Carrick Raiders
The Brashear Bulls will head out on the road to square off against the Carrick Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brashear is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Brashear was handed a three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Commodores on Wednesday. Brashear breezed by the Commodores at home to the tune of 54-20.
Brashear's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ra'Nyah Morris led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Morris hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Sherrill, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Carrick's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 33-25 to Perry Traditional Academy.
Brashear's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Carrick, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Brashear strolled past the Raiders in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 43-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brashear since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
