Softball Recap: Erie Beats Fairview for Their Second Straight Victory

Erie won against Frederick on Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Tigers beat the Fairview Knights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 14-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by ten runs or more this season.

Avery Barnes and Braelen Heer did most of the damage at the plate: Barnes got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Heer went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Carter, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Erie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only posted a batting average of .353.

The victory made it two in a row for Erie and bumps their season record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Fairview, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Erie will welcome Frederick at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Fairview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northglenn on Friday.
