Basketball Game Preview: Cibola Cougars vs. Deming Wildcats

The Cibola Cougars will take on the Deming Wildcats in a tournament on Thursday. Cibola has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Cibola is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Roswell 77-74. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since January 11th.

Meanwhile, Deming suffered their closest defeat since November 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Cobre by a score of 71-68. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Indians are ranked 19th).

Cibola now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Deming, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
