Football Game Preview: Ferris Yellowjackets vs. Canton Eagles

Ferris is 0-4 against Canton since October of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Ferris has given up an average of 40.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ferris is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Ford on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Yellowjackets were beaten by the Panthers 49-15. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Kaden Gonzalez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 53 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 102 yards on seven of 14 attempts. Ferris also got help from Qui-Darwin Cotton, who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Canton put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 63-7 victory over Wills Point. With the Eagles ahead 49-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Ferris' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Canton, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Things could have been worse for Ferris, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-14 loss to Canton in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
