Recap: Poway Titans vs. Bonita Vista Barons
There's no place like home for the Poway Titans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bonita Vista on Monday and snuck past 71-68. The victory was just what Poway needed coming off of a 86-32 loss in their prior game.
Katelyn Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points. Another player making a difference was Allie Hawkins, who scored 14 points.
Despite the loss, Bonita Vista saw an underclassman step up: Bayanai Cordova scored 28 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cordova has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahliya Wilson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Poway's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Bonita Vista, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-12.
Poway will be playing in front of their home fans against San Marcos at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Poway is facing San Marcos at the right time seeing as San Marcos is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Bonita Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Olympian at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Bonita Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
