Basketball Recap: Bonsall Comes Up Short

Bonsall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Coastal Academy Stingrays 38-11. The Legionnaires were down 35-10 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Heiress Afalava was the offensive standout of the matchup as she posted seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals. She has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played. Mel Vasquez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Bonsall's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Coastal Academy, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5.

Bonsall will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Chula Vista Learning Community Charter at 5:00 p.m. on February 11th. Coastal Academy has already played their next contest (against Foothills Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
